Discover Carinthia's most beautiful lakes

From May 21 to 25, 2025, Velovista will take leisurely cyclists on five relaxed daily stages along the Carinthian Lakes Loop. Each day brings new landscapes, cultural highlights and enjoyable breaks, accompanied by regional specialties and musical experiences.

The journey begins in Villach, a city with southern flair, and leads along the Drau cycle path to Lake Klopein, the warmest bathing lake in Europe. We then continue to the Carinthian capital of Klagenfurt, where you can choose your program, a visit to a beach, a boat trip on Lake Wörthersee or a bike tour to Maria Saal. The route follows the turquoise waters of the famous Wörthersee back to Villach. Finally, explore the idyllic surroundings of the Lake Ossiach.

21.05., Stage 1: Villach – Klopeiner See (approx. 80 km)

The opening stage leads from Villach along the Drau Cycle Path through the idyllic Rosental and Jauntal valleys to Lake Klopeiner, the warmest bathing lake in Europe. A culinary stop near Ferlach ensures the well-being of the participants. The finish at Lake Klopeiner offers an authentic Carinthian evening with choirs, bands, dance groups, and regional cuisine, as well as a water multimedia show. A 3-hour ticket to the Carinthian Badehaus Klopeiner See is also included (valid until the end of 2025).

22.05., Stage 2: Klopeiner See – Klagenfurt (approx. 40 km)

The second stage takes you to the large Völkermarkt reservoir and along the Drau towards Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia. During the stop at the Gasthof Hambrusch in Grafenstein, you can sample regional slow food delicacies. From there, you follow the cycle path to Klagenfurt. The destination is at the idyllic Lendhafen, where the “Hafenzwitschern” with live music, art and culinary delights rounds off the day of cycling. In the evening, a special performance of “Jedermann reloaded” with Jedermann star Philipp Hochmair is offered as part of the Klagenfurt Festival.

23.05., Stage 3: Klagenfurt am Wörthersee – 4 options to choose from

The third day of the Velovista is at your leisure. Weather permitting, the Klagenfurt lido offers free admission, but three different, very attractive program options are also offered. You can choose between a guided bike tour from Klagenfurt city center to Zollfeld and a visit to the Maria Saal pilgrimage church (3 km), a private boat cruise on Lake Wörthersee (bikes not included), or a guided tour of the city center followed by a private hike up Kreuzbergl.

24.05., Stage 4: From Klagenfurt am Wörthersee to Villach (approx. 42 km)

The 4th section leads from the state capital Klagenfurt first along the Lend Canal to the turquoise-green Wörthersee. On the northern shore of Carinthia's most famous bathing lake, the route runs almost entirely along the shore to Velden, where a culinary stop is planned in the center. Shortly after Velden, the Drau cycle path takes you to the center of Villach. This day is rounded off with a cyclist's festival in the Kärnten Therme with musical entertainment and a DJ.

25.05., Stage 5: Ossiacher See circuit (approx. 44 km)

The final day of the Velovista takes you from the center of Villach along the Drava cycle path to the nearby Ossiach Lake, which is circled anti-clockwise. The former Benedictine monastery of Ossiach provides a unique stopover. From there, the route leads almost exclusively along the shore of the Ossiach Lake cycle path back to Villach. Individual departure or optional booking of an additional night in Villach.
