Experience a colorful natural spectacle on the beautiful Drau Cycle Path, from brightly colored forests to quiet reed belts. You start your enjoyable cycling holiday in Spittal/Drau and cycle along the natural banks of the Drau, always downstream, to the warmest bathing lake in Europe. On the way you pass the lively town of Villach, where you can enjoy wellness in the Kärnten Therme (entrance included). The scenic Rosental leads to Lake Klopeiner See, which often has a bathing temperature of over 20 degrees even at the beginning of October. In the evening you can relax in the new bath house or the sauna of the cozy 3* bike hotel and taste specialties from the autumnal Carinthian cuisine.

Getting there

Individual arrival in Spittal an der Drau and check-in at the hotel. The day is at leisure. If you arrive early enough, we recommend visiting Porcia Castle, which is considered the most beautiful Renaissance building in Austria.

Spittal / Drau - Villach, 42km

Cycle comfortably on the Drau Cycle Path along the natural river bank to the lively district town of Villach, whose city center exudes southern flair. The beautiful city center with its cafes and shops invites you to stroll and linger. Or enjoy the hot water of the Kärnten Therme with its spacious wellness facilities in Warmbad Villach.

Villach - Ferlach, approx. 46 km

From Villach you cycle directly on the Drau past the Rosegg zoo. At the St. Jakob reservoir in the Rosental, you can watch wild birds perfectly in the bird view. The path continues along the Feistritz reservoir to Ferlach, where the gunsmith and hunting museum and the Carnica bee museum are well worth a visit. You can marvel at water from above in the beautiful Tscheppaschlucht gorge with its raging waterfalls.

Ferlach - Klopeiner See, approx. 37 km

Today you cycle on the Drau cycle path through the scenic, natural and bilingual Rosental. Enjoy the tranquility and the nature experience of autumn with the brightly colored forests and stop at one of the numerous resting places. At the destination, the Klopeiner See, Austria's warmest swimming lake, awaits. Even at the beginning of October it often reaches pleasant temperatures of over 20 degrees and is ideal for a swim or a ride in a rowing boat. In the evening, try the specialties of the Alps-Adriatic cuisine.
