The Klopeiner See - Südkarnten region is Austria's southernmost holiday region and inspires gentle excursions or multi-day bike tours. In southern Carinthia, a mild climate, Mediterranean flair, gentle hills, wild mountain ranges, incredibly beautiful nature and unique bike paths await you to enjoy and discover.
Connoisseurs appreciate the extensive and well-signposted network of cycle paths and the enjoyable tours around the seven warm bathing lakes, including the iconic Klopeiner See. A jump into the refreshing water should not be missing on any tour. By the way: all the lakes in the region have excellent drinking water quality and the water temperatures climb above 28˚C in summer. The Klopeiner See already has an average of 20 durchschnittlichC in May.
Along the Drau, to art and another loop
In addition to the many leisurely and well-signposted tours around the region's lakes, there are quiet mountain roads and countless cycle paths, including the well-known Drau cycle path and the art and culture cycle path. The Great Carinthia Lakes Loop, a 340 km long tour to the most beautiful lakes in Carinthia, naturally also leads past Lake Klopein.
Natural gems, art and cultural attractions
The region also offers numerous attractions away from the bicycle saddle: from natural gems such as the Wildensteiner waterfall and the Trögerner Klamm to countless hiking trails to rewarding peaks such as Petzen, Hochobir or Saualpe as well as the Southern Alps panorama trail. A few days extension, for example after a bike tour on the Drau Cycle Path, is definitely worth it.
