Days

DESCRIPTION:

This Drau Cycle Path journey takes you from one regional culinary specialty to the next. Thanks to the influences of the Alpe-Adria region in the border triangle of Austria, Italy and Slovenia, Carinthian cuisine has its own unmistakable character. In addition, Carinthia has many slow food restaurants that refine and offer regional products of the highest quality.

They start on Drau cycle path in Lienz in East Tyrol with traditional specialties such as Schlipfkrapfen, try Carinthian Kasnudln in the Drautal and enjoy a whitefish or the Carinthian Laxn trout variety on a fine lakeside terrace on Lake Millstatt or the sophisticated Lake Wörthersee. The Italian influence is becoming more and more noticeable with antipasti, pasta, polenta, calamari and Pinot Grigio. And in between, a rustic Carinthian Buschenschank tempts you every now and then, where you can sample juicy bread, homemade spreads, bacon and sausages straight from the farmer.
