Arrival to Lavamünd
Individual arrival in Lavamünd and first night in Lavamünd.
Lavamünd - Sillian - Toblach - Sillian, approx. 36 km
After breakfast, take our transfer bus (included in the price) to Sillian in East Tyrol. There you have the opportunity to take a bike trip across the Italian border to Toblach in South Tyrol at the source of the Drau.
Sillian - Oberdrauburg, approx. 51 km
Accompanied by the panorama of the Dolomites, you cycle downstream along the Drau to Lienz, the largest city in East Tyrol. Take your time to rest in the enchanting city and enjoy the hustle and bustle. Shortly after Nikolsdorf, you cross the state border to Carinthia. Take the opportunity to stop at a Drauradwegwirt and taste an East Tyrolean specialty.
Oberdrauburg - Sachsenburg, approx. 41 km
Partly along the river bank, partly a bit off the beaten track through smaller villages, the Drau Cycle Path takes you to the next district capital, Spittal/Dau. Passing the herbal village of Irschen, it goes through Berg im Drautal to Sachsenburg. You spend the night again at one of the Drauradweg landlords and can convince yourself of the specialties of Carinthian cuisine, such as Carinthian cheese noodles.
Sachsenburg - Villach, approx. 53 km
Always downstream you cycle along the Drau Cycle Path to Villach, the city with southern flair. Stop in Spittal/Drau at the beautiful Renaissance Castle Porcia and take a break halfway at one of the most beautiful snack stations along the way and fortify yourself with Carinthian delicacies. Experience the lively city of Villach with a cozy drink on the main square.
Villach - Kirschentheuer / Ferlach, approx. 47 km
Today's stage takes you through the scenically beautiful Rosental, an insider tip, even for experienced Austria connoisseurs. The proximity to Slovenia can be experienced in many places due to bilingualism. In the charming gunsmith town of Ferlach, the Carnica Bee Museum invites you to visit, or you can take a trip to the nearby Tscheppa Gorge (approx. 12 km there and back)
Kirschentheuer / Ferlach - Klopeiner See, approx. 45 km
Today you cycle through the unspoilt Rosental on the Drau Cycle Path on beautiful causeways to Carinthia's warmest bathing lake, the Klopeiner See. Once at your destination, relax with a swim in the clear water and enjoy your sunset dinner by the lake.
Klopeiner See - Lavamünd, approx. 39 km
Today you cycle along the large Völkermarkt reservoir to Ruden. Following a small detour (due to the renovation of the Jauntalbrücke), you cross the Santa Luzia suspension bridge, which was specially built for cyclists. Visit the extraordinary art museum Liaunig in Neuhaus before you cycle on to Lavamünd. The stage takes you through the so-called Had'n region (Had'n=buckwheat). Try a Had'ntorte during a bike break.
