DESCRIPTION:

Seven dreamlike lakes in seven cycling days! Our lake biking tour along the large Carinthian lake loop connects the most beautiful Carinthian lakes and is a unique experience for leisure cyclists. The largest ascent to the natural jewel Weissensee can be easily covered by bus. After that, after a boat trip, it goes continuously downwards. In between, the crystal-clear water of the well-tempered, beautiful lakes lures you to stop for a swim. The route is 90% along the Carinthian lakes, such as the Millstätter See, the Ossiacher See or the Wörthersee as well as along the Drau cycle path on very well developed and marked cycle paths. Short connecting routes run on country roads. In order to have enough time for the numerous highlights and sights, we recommend using an e-bike.

Spittal - Weissensee - Millstätter See, approx. 55 km

Your tour begins with a comfortable transfer to the eastern shore of the beautiful, fjord-like Weissensee, which lies at an elevation of 930 meters. You'll cross the protected lake on the "Alpenperle" scheduled boat, then saddle up on your bikes. From the western shore, you'll cycle downhill to the Drau Cycle Path and via Greifenburg and Spittal an der Drau to the popular bathing lake, Lake Millstatt.

Ossiacher See - Wörthersee - Krumpendorf, approx. 45 km

Today is dedicated to Lake Ossiach and Lake Wörthersee, and you can also add additional kilometers of cycling along the lakeside cycle paths. At Lake Ossiach, for example, Ossiach Abbey, the Domenig Stone House, and the Bleistätter Moor Nature Reserve are worth seeing. The tour continues to the fashionable Wörthersee, where you can take a break at a beach café in the famous town of Velden and stroll between the casino and Velden Castle.

Start this day with a tour of the state capital Klagenfurt and its landmark, the Lindwurm. Following the cycle and railway path and Grafenstein, you'll reach the Drava Cycle Path and the large, tranquil Völkermarkt Reservoir, Carinthia's third-largest body of water. Cycle past idyllic natural harbors and fishing boats to Lake Klopeiner See, the warmest bathing lake in Europe.

On this and the next day, you'll cycle back along the Drau Cycle Path, mostly on causeways. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the natural surroundings offered by the Drau River in the beautiful Rosental Valley. If the route is too long for you, you can shorten it by taking the train via Klagenfurt and cycling to Villach, for example, along the Wörthersee South Shore Cycle Path or the Keutschacher See Cycle Path via Velden. Once you arrive in Villach, be sure to enjoy the atmosphere of the Mediterranean-inspired main square.

Alternatively, you can take a detour to the small, vibrant turquoise-green Lake Faak, take a swim, or cycle around it, and perhaps return to Spittal an der Drau by train.
