DESCRIPTION:

On this bike tour Salzkammergut cycle path Enjoy a leisurely ride through the highlights of the uniquely beautiful Salzkammergut region, encompassing six lakes. With daily stages of approximately 30 kilometers, there's plenty of time to take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of Lake Wolfgang, Lake Mondsee, or Lake Attersee, and to explore the many sights along the way. From world-famous Hallstatt to the imperial city and 2024 European Capital of Culture, Bad Ischl, and on to the renowned White Horse Inn on Lake Wolfgang. The stages are easily manageable with trekking bikes, mostly following paved cycle paths, with a few sections on gravel roads and forest trails. Expect to climb between 300 and 500 meters each day.

Arrival to Strobl

Individual arrival in Strobl on Lake Wolfgang and check-in at the hotel. If you arrive early, explore the surroundings or visit one of the beautiful lakeside beaches.

Strobl - St. Wolfgang - Bad Ischl - Strobl, approx. 35 km

Your tour begins with a short bike ride to the boat landing in Abersee, where you'll catch the ferry to St. Wolfgang. We recommend a stroll through this popular town with its pilgrimage church and the famous "White Horse Inn." From there, you'll continue to the historic imperial town of Bad Ischl, where Emperor Franz Joseph spent his summers for decades. Finally, you'll cycle back to Strobl via Pfandl.

Strobl - St. Gilgen - Mondsee, approx. 30 km

Today's program includes another highlight of Lake Wolfgang: St. Gilgen, the birthplace of Mozart's mother, Anna Maria. The bike tour takes you past the picturesque Krottensee lake, and via Scharfling you will soon reach Lake Mondsee and the town of the same name.

Mondsee - Irrsee - Mondsee, approx. 24 km

Discover Mondsee today, visit the magnificent basilica of the former monastery and the open-air museum, take a walk on the beach promenade or visit a lido. Then cycle to the neighboring Irrsee, the warmest lake in the Salzkammergut, a protected moor lake and return to Mondsee after circumnavigating it.

Mondsee - Attersee - Seefeld, approx. 26 km

Your route today on the Salzkammergut Cycle Path takes you along Lake Mondsee via Au to Unterach and on to Seefeld am Attersee. The turquoise-green Lake Attersee is the largest lake in the Salzkammergut region, and you shouldn't miss the opportunity to swim in it, either at a lido or one of the public access points.

Seefeld - Bad Ischl - Bad Goisern, approx. 34 km

Today you cycle over the natural Weissenbachtal via Bad Ischl into the Inner Salzkammergut to Bad Goisern. Take another break in Bad Ischl and treat yourself, for example, to a sweet delicacy in the famous Zauner confectionery or take a walk through the spa gardens.

Bad Goisern - Obertraun - Hallstatt - Bad Goisern, approx. 30 km

At the end of your bike tour, the world-famous Hallstatt on the lake of the same name is on the program. Along the Hallstätter See-Ostuferradweg you first reach Obertraun, where you can visit the impressive Dachstein ice or mammoth caves. Continue following the cycle path to Hallstatt, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Finally, you cycle along the lake back to Bad Goisern.
