Enjoy the most beautiful section of the Danube Cycle Path! The cycle tour from Passau to Vienna is the classic of all Danube cycle tours and one of the most famous cycle tours ever. The Danube Cycle Path is perfectly developed and a "must" for all recreational cyclists, ideal for the first cycling holiday and for all ages. Starting from the Bavarian border town of Passau, the cycle tour leads over the famous Schlögener Danube loop to the Upper Austrian capital of Linz. Passing numerous natural beauties and picturesque places, you will soon reach the world-famous wine-growing region of Wachau. At the end of the cycle tour, magnificent Vienna with all its sights awaits you.

Arrival in Passau

Arrival in Passau and check-in at the hotel. Individual tour of the old town of Passau (e.g. St. Stephen's Cathedral, Dreiflüsseeck, Burg Veste Oberhaus). We recommend the Three Rivers Boat Tour - an exciting city tour from the water.

Passau - Wesenufer/ Schlögen, approx. 40 km

From Passau via Obernzell you cycle past Engelhartszell, where the Trappist monastery is located, which is well worth seeing. You continue along the banks of the Danube to Schlögen, to the famous Schlögen Danube Loop.

Wesenufer/ Schlögen - Linz, approx. 54 km

The Danube Cycle Path continues through the unspoilt Kaiserau valley and finally on to Linz. The Upper Austrian capital offers many sights from the old town to the Ars Electronic Center and the modern Lentos Museum.

Linz - Wallsee, approx. 53 km

Today we go along the Danube cycle path through Marchfeld and over the Abwinden power plant to Mauthausen, where the memorial to the former concentration camp can be visited. Through the beautiful Strudengau you reach your destination for the day, Wallsee/Au.

Wallsee - Maria Taferl/ Marbach, approx. 55 km

Passing the “legendary” island of Wörth, you reach the Nibelungengau – a section of the Danube with a history-rich past. Via Ybbs-Persenbeug, you cycle on to the famous pilgrimage site of Maria Taferl/Marbach or Leiben.

Maria Taferl/Marbach - Krems/Traismauer, approx. 50/65 km

Today you pass one of the most beautiful river valleys in the world, the well-known wine-growing region of the Wachau! The Wachau UNESCO World Heritage Site begins in Melk, whose imposing Benedictine monastery towers over the Danube. We continue through the picturesque wine-growing towns of Spitz and Weißenkirchen to Dürnstein with its idyllic old town. You should taste the delicious local wines at the latest at the destination of the day, the pretty district town of Krems or Traismauer.

Krems / Traismauer - Vienna, approx. 60-75 km

Through the Tulln Basin you reach the Egon Schiele town of Tulln on the Danube. In the town of Höflein you can return the rental bikes and take the S-Bahn to Vienna. Or you can cycle further, past Klosterneuburg to the center of the waltz city of Vienna. The global metropolis offers a wealth of sights (e.g. St. Stephen's Cathedral, Ringstrasse, Schönbrunn Palace, Prater, Danube Tower, Belvedere Palace, etc.).
