Enjoy the most beautiful section of the Danube Cycle Path! The bike tour from Passau to Vienna is the classic of all Danube bike tours and one of the most famous bike tours ever. The Danube Cycle Path is perfectly developed and a "must" for all recreational cyclists, ideally suited for the first cycling holiday and for all ages. Starting from the Bavarian border town of Passau, the bike tour leads over the famous Schlögener Danube loop to the Upper Austrian capital Linz. Passing numerous natural beauties and picturesque locations, you will soon reach the world-famous wine-growing region of Wachau. At the end of the bike tour, the splendid Vienna awaits with all its sights and many bike paths.

Arrival in Passau

Arrival to Passau and check-in at the hotel. Individual tour of Passau's old town (e.g. St. Stephen's Cathedral, Dreiflüsseeck, Veste Oberhaus Castle). The three rivers boat tour is recommended - a comfortable city tour from the water.

Passau - Wesenufer/ Schlögen, approx. 40 km

From Passau via Obernzell and the Jochenstein power station, you cycle past Engelhartszell, which is home to the only Trappist monastery in Austria that is worth seeing. Continue along the banks of the Danube to Wesenufer and Schlögen, to the famous Schlögener Danube loop.

Wesenufer/ Schlögen - Linz, approx. 54 km

The Danube Cycle Path continues through the unpopulated Kaiserau narrow valley, past Aschach and Brandstatt and finally on to Linz. The Upper Austrian capital offers many sights from the old town, the Danube promenade to the Ars Electronic Center and the modern Lentos Museum.

Linz - Grein/ Ardagger, approx. 63 km

Today we go on the Danube Cycle Path through the Marchfeld and via the Abzüge power plant to Mauthausen, where the memorial of the former concentration camp can be visited. Through the beautiful Strudengau you will reach your daily destination Grein / Ardagger or Bad Kreuzen.

Grein/Ardagger - Maria Taferl/ Marbach, approx. 50 km

Passing the “legendary” island of Wörth, you reach the Nibelungengau - a section of the Danube with a rich history. Via Ybbs-Persenbeug you cycle on to the famous pilgrimage site of Maria Taferl / Marbach or Leiben.

Maria Taferl/Marbach - Krems/Traismauer, approx. 47/54 km

Today you pass one of the most beautiful river valleys in the world, the well-known wine-growing region of the Wachau! The Wachau UNESCO World Heritage Site begins in Melk, whose imposing Benedictine monastery towers over the Danube. We continue through the picturesque wine-growing towns of Spitz and Weißenkirchen to Dürnstein with its idyllic old town. You should taste the delicious local wines at the latest at the destination of the day, the pretty district town of Krems or Traismauer.

Krems / Traismauer - Vienna, approx. 57-73 km

Through the Tulln Basin you reach the Egon-Schiele town of Tulln on the Danube. You can return the rental bikes in Höflein and take the S-Bahn to Vienna. Or you can continue cycling past Klosterneuburg to the center of the waltz town. The cosmopolitan metropolis offers a wealth of sights (e.g. St. Stephen's Cathedral, Ringstrasse, Schönbrunn Palace, Prater, Danube Tower, Belvedere Palace, etc.).
