DESCRIPTION:

The unique Ciclovia Alpe-Adria Cycle Route is an unforgettable experience. On your journey from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea, you'll cycle through two diverse countries and enjoy a diverse landscape full of contrasts. In the second section, you'll cross the border into Italy from Villach and cycle partly along old railway lines through the beautiful, pristine Friulian Alps. Via Udine and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aquileia, you'll head to the seaside, reaching the renowned seaside resort of Grado, where the Alpe-Adria Cycle Route officially ends. The route continues, partly on beautiful cycle paths through nature reserves and partly along the coastal road, to the historic port city of Trieste.

Return transfer from Trieste to Villach
Return transfer in our comfortable minibus for €115 per person, excluding bike. Bringing your own bike costs €25.
We ask you to reserve your seats.

Parking
Free parking is available in Villach for the duration of your trip in a public, unguarded parking lot. Parking spaces at the hotel cost approximately €15 per day, and public parking garages cost approximately €5 per day.
The prices are not included in the package price and are payable on site.

How to Arrive

Individual arrival in Villach and check-in at the hotel. The afternoon is at your leisure. Explore the charming old town of Carinthia's cycling capital or take a trip to the turquoise-green Lake Faak.

Villach - Tarvisio, approx. 40 km

Cycling along the Gail you will soon say goodbye to Austria and say hello to Bella Italia. The border town of Tarvisio (Tarvisio) is located in the border triangle between Italy, Austria and Slovenia and forms the center of the Canal Valley. Enjoy Friulian specialties in one of the numerous restaurants in the popular winter sports resort.

Tarvisio - Venzone/Gemona, approx. 50 - 60km

The Alpe-Adria Cycle Route now runs along abandoned railway lines through the beautiful Friulian Alps, with intact, untouched nature and imposing mountains. At the destination, discover the picturesque old towns of Venzone and Gemona del Friuli, both of which were completely destroyed in an earthquake and lovingly rebuilt.

Venzone/Gemona - Udine, approx. 50 - 60 km

The landscape softens, and you cycle via Gemona del Friuli to the picturesque city of Udine. The old town, characterized by Venetian influences, exudes tranquility and tranquility. While enjoying a coffee in the piazza or strolling through the city center, you can admire important late Gothic and Renaissance buildings.

Udine - Palmanova - Aquileia - Grado, approx. 55 - 60 km

Accompanied by the breeze of the Scirocco, you will cycle past reed landscapes and water channels, passing through the unique, star-shaped town of Palmanova and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aquileia before reaching the historic fishing town of Grado, one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Adriatic.

Relaxing by the sea or a cultural day in Aquileia

Today you have the choice: you can spend a day sightseeing in the footsteps of the ancient Romans in Aquileia or a relaxing day by the sea, enjoying the miles of beach or cycling through the Grado lagoon.

Grado - Monfalcone - Trieste, about 65 km

The first half of today's stage leads along quiet cycle paths through beautiful lagoon nature reserves to the port town of Monfalcone. The route then continues along the coastal road, offering repeated magnificent views of the sea. The magnificent Miramare Castle is worth a visit before you reach your destination, the historic port city of Trieste. Alternatively, you can travel the second section from Monfalcone by train (not included).
