DESCRIPTION:

The magnificent Adige Cycle Path follows the Adige River (also known as the Adige in Italian) from the South Tyrolean Alps to the Mediterranean city of Verona. The cycling tour begins in the Tyrolean border town of Nauders and descends steadily after the Reschen Pass. Passing the idyllic Reschensee lake, bordered by orchards and vineyards, the well-maintained Adige Valley Cycle Path offers sensational views of a breathtaking landscape.

Soon, the Adige Cycle Route will also offer cultural attractions, from the renowned spa town of Merano via Bolzano to Trento. Finally, at the end of the cycling tour awaits Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet and its world-famous Arena, renowned for its unique open-air opera performances.

Nauders - Schlanders/Naturns, approx. 57-77 km

Your Adige Cycle Path begins with a gentle climb from Nauders to the Reschen Pass, where you cross the border into the Italian region of South Tyrol. Shortly after, you'll reach the picturesque Reschensee lake with its famous church tower rising from the water and the Marienberg Abbey. From there, the Adige Cycle Path continues downhill to the charming resort town of Schlanders.

Schlanders/Naturns - Merano - Bolzano, approx. 50-70 km

Cycling along the Adige River, you'll enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Ortler Group, mostly directly on the riverbank, and a steady descent through the apple orchards of the Vinschgau Valley. Soon you'll reach the wonderful spa town of Merano with its famous Trauttmans Castle. The route continues to Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol, which boasts numerous attractions, from the Ötzi Museum to the Pacher Altarpiece.

Bolzano - Trento, approx. 65 km

Today's route continues along the Adige Cycle Path, past the dramatic cliffs of the famous Salurner Klause, which also marks the German-Italian language border. In the charming town of San Michele all'Adige, we recommend visiting the Augustinian monastery and sampling the regional wines. Our destination for the day, the historic council city of Trento, also boasts a picturesque old town with noteworthy highlights such as palazzi and Roman ruins.

Trento - Lake Garda/Arco/Riva del Garda, approx. 53 km

Staying on the Adige Cycle Path, you'll cycle through picturesque vineyards to Rovereto, whose enchanting center with its monuments is well worth a visit. Passing through the secluded town of Mori, you'll finally reach Torbole on the northern shore of the magnificent Lake Garda and nearby Arco with its Mediterranean climate.

Lake Garda/Arco/Riva del Garda - Cavaion Veronese/Alffi, approx. 63 km

A short bus transfer takes you to San Giovanni (3 km), from where you continue your bike tour on level to slightly downhill terrain to San Roco and then cycle along the Adige Cycle Path to Belluno-Veronese. After a short climb, you reach Albaré and continue on to the gourmet village of Cavaion Veronese.

Cavaion Veronese/Alffi - Verona, approx. 25 km

In the finale you will cycle today to the Canale Camuzzoni and along this irrigation system for the fortress Verona and Mantua with very beautiful views over the Adige to the first cyclist observation tower. Via Bussolengo you finally reach the center of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Verona. In addition to the world-famous amphitheater, where the opera festival takes place in summer, the romantic old town of Verona awaits with numerous sights.
