Pure cycling pleasure on car-free days at Wörthersee and Ossiacher See
We all love well-developed cycle paths in a beautiful landscape, such as around the Carinthian lakes. But to be able to cycle on wide roads without having to pay attention to car traffic and any crossings, this experience makes every cyclist's heart beat faster. Exactly this is on Sunday April 24rd possible around the Wörthersee. On this day, all federal roads around the Wörthersee are closed to traffic and the largest and most famous Carinthian lake belongs exclusively to cyclists. There are numerous attractions along the approx. 40 km round tour: the famous holiday resort of Velden with its beach promenade, castle and casino, the provincial capital of Klagenfurt with its harbor and old town, the Maria Wörth peninsula with its pilgrimage church and much more. In addition, a colorful supporting program with food stands and music will ensure fun and entertainment.
Am Sunday May 15th it is then called “car-free” at Lake Ossiacher See. Here, too, the approx. 30 km long route along the lake belongs exclusively to cyclists on this day. Between the Ossiach Abbey, the Bleistätter Moor nature reserve and the Steinhaus in Steindorf, the innkeepers take care of your physical well-being with delicacies.
Both car-free days can be perfectly combined as part of a Villach cycle star tour from Carinthia Radreisen experience. Apart from the tours around the lakes, there are also varied excursions on the Drau Cycle Path or on the Ciclovia Alpe-Adria Cycle Path to Tarvisio on the optional cycling programme. E.g. 22.4.-25.4. incl. train journey to Klagenfurt from € 269,-
